In The Middle Of A Filbert Grove On Sunday Afternoon

Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience.

Why's that? They are filberts, right?

yes, they are... but here's an interesting little story about marketing oregon products on the east coast. when filberts and filbert flavoured things were first introduced in the east, they wouldn't sell. so they were re-marketed. under the name hazlenut. one old person name to another. but for some reason, hazlenut worked. same nut, different name. i darnright refuse to call them hazlenuts.

Whoa, I didn't know that. Not sure I would have drank a "Rogue Filbert Brown Nectar" if I'd seen it on a menu...

I also refuse to call them hazelnuts. However, I do make an exception when ordering a hazelnut latte. It doesn't feel right asking for a filbert latte.

As far as the pic is concerned, I love it! I have walked inside of that grove, I believe. It's along the Willamette river, correct?
Try walking down it around 10pm at night! I've never experienced darkness like that before.
